Ever since Charlie Bennett and Christian Sager dissected Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows’s Providence on their Supercontext podcast, I’ve looked forward to and dreaded reading this “ultimate H.P. Lovecraft” story. Been taking my sweet time savoring each act over the past few moons, mulling over every twist and turn.

Just before crossing paths with Josh Heath, I snagged that final piece of the puzzle from my local library on my Sunday book haul. Act 2 did a number on my head, and I needed to gather enough intestinal fortitude to read the apocalyptic conclusion. But today, my friends, was the day. I cracked open that last chapter, and my brain was dribbling out my ears.

Alan Moore, he’s always been a believer in the magic of language, and let me tell you, Providence? It’s like a damn devastating spell, weaving its enchantment around me. I can tell it’ll leave me spellbound for days on end.

Read Providence. If you dare.
